Feeling eastery

So there has been a recent trend to include creme eggs in recipes. Cookies, brownies etc but I felt like cake! And there were no good recipes online so here is my spin on this new craze. It is very decadent but a real crowd pleaser!

Creme egg filling:
1/2 cup cream cheese
1/4 cup butter softened
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbs golden syrup
1/4 tsp. salt
3 cups sifted icing sugar
Yellow food colouring

Cadburys chocolate icing:
175g Cadbury’s Milk Chocolate
225g Butter
300g Icing Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla Extract
Large creme eggs smashed for decoration

Cake:
Either Betty Crocker devils food cake mix or

175g Self raising flour
2 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 Tsp Bicarbonate soda
150g Caster sugar
2 Eggs Beaten
150 ml (1/4 pint) Sunflower oil
150 ml (1/4 pint) Semi skimmed milk
2 Tbsp Golden syrup
Packet mini creme eggs

Preheat oven to 180 and grease and line two small cake sandwich tins (about 7 inches)

Mix together dry cake ingredients. Make a well and add wet ingredients beat until smooth then add as many mini creme eggs as you think you can stomach (already very sweet recipe)

Spoon half into each tin and bake for 25 mins roughly. Leave to cool

Make filling by mixing very softened butter, cream cheese and icing sugar together then adding the rest of the ingredients and mixing together except food colouring, marble about 1/4 tsp through with a fork or toothpick only around edges where visible. Make sure it is a thin later of icing when spreading filling on top of one half WHEN cool

For icing

Make egg shape by dotting about a tbs of white filling then adding some colour white filling (a very small amount) in the centre to look like a yolk.

Can decorate with choc shavings, creme eggs and even mini eggs or chocolate cornflake 'nests'

We didn't have much time so just smashed up large creme eggs

Hope you enjoy!!!

As if this wasn't enough I later went to the cinema, ordered sweet and salty mix and added mini eggs! Mmmmm

Hope you have a lovely Easter holiday

Bisous,

A x
